Did You See the Disciples at the Pole |
|
|
Students numbering in the millions from across our nation and around the world Wednesday morning, September 20th met at the school flagpole to pray and ask God to bring revival to their home, school, and community. |

As the sun rose
I watched as a group of 200 plus students at Central High School in
Carrollton, GA gather around the school flagpole. They were not gathering
for the normal school chat, or to discuss the homework they did or didn’t
do. This Wednesday morning brought students together to make a stand for
their beliefs.
The Students formed a circle around the flagpole to sing songs, to be a witness of God’s love, |
| and to
give testimonies as a way of planting seeds of faith, love, and hope with
Jesus to their fellow students.
The students held hands as they prayed, asking God to let them be a light to the world, a beacon in the darkness and to give them boldness in witnessing for Christ. I thought not about What Would Jesus Do (WWJD), but instead I thought about What Jesus Did Do. Jesus was at the flagpole. He was always showing up at public gatherings, at parties, at official meetings, at lakes, at political meetings, at the river, and any where else in public that he could show the Fathers love by teaching and planting seeds of hope. He was always going to where the crowds were. Jesus knew that to reach the people He had to be seen on their turf, and could not wait in some building for them to come to Him. See You at the Pole is not a public demonstration. It is not a club meeting. It is not a church service. See You at the Pole is a time for students to pray for their schools, friends, communities, and countries. Even when faced with opposition, students gathered for the sole purpose of prayer. I thought about the National Day of Prayer that was held in May on our Court house steps and remembered with sadness that out of the thousands of adult Christians leaders (the pastors and Sunday school teachers) only 10 showed up to be seen standing out in public for God. The rest waited in their church buildings for the nation to come to them. The Christian leaders along with the disciples of Jesus day criticized Him for His actions, as many of today’s Church leaders criticizes Him with lifeless actions. Today as I watched the real Christian leaders, the brave students who were doing what Jesus did, it became obvious to me what Jesus meant when he said. "Whosoever does not receive the kingdom of God, as children shall not enter in to it". Jesus blessed the group of children at the Jordan River that day, and today Jesus blessed the children in Carroll County because our true Christ-like leaders stood courageously at the flagpole.
