Dr. Henry T. Blackaby, Director of Prayer and Spiritual Awakening at the Home Mission Board in Atlanta, was the special guest speaker.
In opening, Dr. Blackaby tells us if we hear the Word of God and do nothing, it is not planted in good soil. He then asked us to think about our own prayer habits.
Which of the following applies to us:
1 Believe in prayer but rarely pray.
2 Say prayers at the table or at bedtime.
3 Disciplined prayer life, private personal prayers
4 Join prayer groups, praying open, bold prayers
5 Intercessory prayer, pray to God then listens to hear what is on the heart of God.
SOMEONE THAT STANDS IN THE GAP
In Ezekiel 22:30, God says, "And I searched for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I have found none". God is looking for someone to stand in the gap, to build up the walls, for this nation. Someone to keep watch and pray for it. We all have to ask ourselves . . . If survival in America depended on your prayer life, what would America be like?
What can you do? Dr. Blackaby suggest:
- Ask the Spirit of God to develop you into the kind of person that God can read your mind, a mind that is clean and clear.
- Develop your prayer life the way God chooses, to intercede for America.
Dr. Blackaby goes on to say that God does not ask for volunteers, there is too much at stake. God looks for someone that he can trust. God is calling for those who would be a stone, a part of the wall.
On a personal note, America Praying On Line would like to extend a heartfelt, "Thank You" to the members of First Baptist Church, Jonesboro for the warm welcome and hospitality, and an especially eye opening "Thank You" to Dr. Henry Blackaby.
