Pray Persistently and Never Give Up
It is vital that we understand the importance and the power of persistent prayer. It is a fact that if we persevere in prayer that the heavens will open for us. Jesus over and over taught us how to persevere in prayer.
| Prayer is our most significant walk with Christ; | |
| Prayer is a relationship between two who have love one for another; | |
| Prayer is a two way conversation talking and listening to God; | |
| Prayer is a privilege brought to us by the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; |
Hebrews
4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may
obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Prayer is a communication partnership with God. It involves us in what He is doing on earth and what we will be doing in heaven. Our communication line carrier is not ATT, MCI, or Sprint. It’ our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who intercedes in prayer with us. Sign up today.
Matthew
18:18-20 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth
shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed
in heaven.
Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any
thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in
heaven.
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst
of them.
God will do nothing apart from our prayer
of repentances.
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
We must persist in prayer until we cross the finish line, until we see the results of our prayers. The Bible teaches us that persistence is the key to power.
Abraham used the persistence and power of prayer to talk God down from 50 to 10 righteous in an effort to save the destruction of Sodom and upon Gomorrah. God did spare Abraham’s nephew Lot.
We read about a another persistence in Genesis: 32 26 when Jacob was at a low point and was scared. He met a angel and grab him and would not let go until he was blessed. God blessed Jacob for his perseverance.
Genesis 32:26 And he said, Let me go, for
the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
We read in the
book of Matthew chapter 15 that Jesus went north of Israel to minister and to
get some rest and starting with verse 22 a Canaan woman came to Jesus and
persevered for her daughter. She cried out to Jesus my daughter is demon
possessed. The bible says Jesus ignored her and that she kept persisting and the
disciples tried to push her away to no avail, so they ask Jesus to make her go
away. Jesus told her that he had only been sent for the lost sheep of Israel.
She cried out again, Lord son of David have mercy on me. Then Jesus said to her
what was seemingly the most rudest statement Jesus ever made, although we must
understand that He was bringing her to the place of faith. Jesus said it is not
right to take the children’s bread and give it to the dogs. Then the woman
said Lord even the dogs eat the crumbs from the masters table And
Jesus said women!!!! You have great faith, go your daughter has been made whole.
Matthew
15:22-28 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried
unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is
grievously vexed with a devil.
But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying,
Send her away; for she crieth after us.
But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of
Israel.
Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and
cast it to dogs.
And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their
masters' table.
Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto
thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
We must have faith in all we pray and we must pray believing God hears us. We must understand that great faith is a faith that will never give up. If there is anything that you have today, physically or mentally that will make you give up your faith, watch out because the deceiver is coming your way. Great faith is persisting faith that never gives up.
We must pray in the will of the Father which is in Heaven.
We see it in Jesus life as He prayed all night. Father if it is possible let this cup pass from Me. Jesus was in anguish and prayed more earnestly.
Luke 22:44 And being in an agony he
prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling
down to the ground.
Are you in anguish today; Are you discouraged; are you depressed? Some people run away from God when they are in anguish but when Jesus was in anguish He prayed more earnestly until His sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.
When Peter was put in prison, the early church prayed earnestly for him. It was a hard time for the church but the Bible says that they prayed earnestly for him. No mater where they were or what they were doing.
Acts 12:5 Peter
therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church
unto God for him.
Elias was a mere man like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Then he prayed for rain and the heavens open up again and the rain came forth.
James 5:17-18 Elias
was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it
might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and
six months.
And he prayed again, and the heaven
gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
The point here is to pray more earnestly. Now lets be honest about it. The truth of the matter is that we give up to soon. We get distracted in prayer, we get discouraged in prayer. The fact is that when we want answers and don’t get them immediately we give up. In today’s life of anguish we must pray and pray through until we see the fruit of God’s promises. We must pray until our hearts are fully stimulated to the will of God. We need to pray no matter what the difficulty, no matter what the discouragement, and we must not be distracted from the promises of God. We need to pray in faith and not give up until the heavens are opened and God has blessed us abundantly that what we ask. If we will not give up God will hear, God will answer, God will bless us according to his will and we will not be denied the blessings of God. Pray earnestly and never give up. Halleluyah, praise God today.
Why should we pray about the same thing over and over again when you don’t see any results? Doesn’t God get the message the first time? Couldn’t this weaken your faith? Jesus is not talking about richalizimen or being repetitive in prayer, that is not what He is talking about being persistent in prayer. We must understand what Jesus meant when He said that we should always pray and never give up. First of all we must realize that every step of our lives will all ways be in the presence of God.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Paul tells us that we should pray with out ceasing.
Pray with out ceasing. How can we do that?
| We must realize that every thing we do God is there; | |
| We must learn to pray during every day activities; | |
| We must realize that we can experience the presence of God outside the church building. |
God is with us no matter where we are. If we can realize this and give Him more that an hour a week in a church building then we can have a personal relation with God. Be aware that God is present where every we go, He is present with everything we do. If we will talk to him every day with everything we do and not just schedule Him an hour or two a week, He will commutate with us more and more. Prayer is a relationship between you and the Father. The greatest promise God has made is I am with you,!!!! Now if we can grasp this then we can do anything. God is with us when we have trials and tribulations. God will never leave us, He will never forsake you.
Praise
God always, pray and never give up.
