Your gifts make a difference in America

Wake up America Romeo and Juliet Won't:

The tragic double suicide of two teens has left many unanswered questions in the minds of not only the families and friends of the victims, but in the minds of parents everywhere. In fact it should set off an alarm or send up a red flag or what ever it takes to send out a wake up call to America.

We are losing our children to the evils of this world. Deaths number in the thousands, of children dying from suicide, drug abuse, AIDS, gang-related violence, and drive by shootings. These children are being taken one by one right before our eyes.

Open your eyes parents and grandparents! It could be you or I standing over that cold grave. A grave containing the worldly remains of the precious gift God had given us. It could be us with the anguish and pain burning in our hearts over what we could have done to prevent such a senseless tragedy.

We try to comfort and console the families with words of sympathy and prayer. Where were we when these and other children needed the knowledge of another way of life . . . The Only Way. A life with Jesus Christ.

Consider for a moment what this world would be like if all the teens that were considering suicide knew that they could turn their problems over to God and He would lead them safely through. What if all the drug dealers suddenly had the knowledge that Jesus loves them and would forgive them. What if all the gang members had the love and forgiveness of God in their hearts. What if all doers of evil and worshippers of Satan knew the truth about hell and what Satan really had in store for his followers.

These suicides are being romantically painted by some as a "Romeo and Juliet" tragedy. There is nothing romantic about the way these children died. There is nothing romantic in the hearts of their families, only pain, sorrow, guilt and loss. The sheriff of this usually quiet town was quoted as saying, "There's not anything that could have been done about things." Well, I beg to differ. . . this tragedy and countless others could have been prevented. There are things that could have been taught prayers that could have been prayed and different paths that could have been shown.

This tragedy is the fault of every God fearing, Bible believing person in this country. We allowed prayer to be taken out of the schools and God is not even to be mentioned on campus. Even Carrollton Georgia, where approximately 200 churches are located, we have gone so far as to not even allow a cartoon manger sticker in school at Christmas although we fully tolerate the witches and ghouls on our school windows. How can we expect that children would know how to find God, peace and hope in a place like this.

We as parents, grandparents and friends must reach out to the children of America. Get them involved in church programs and youth groups where they can learn about God. From God comes the strength and courage to overcome the problems, obstacles and temptations that this world and Satan put in our paths.

Let us not "put this tragedy behind us", let us keep it in full view as a reminder.

A reminder of two lives that were lost in the ongoing battle to save our children. The lives of Andrea Garrett and Jeff Miller should not be lives lost in vain, but two lives that served as a wake up call to America.
