My name is Kathryn and I am 14 years old. I attend a middle school in the quiet town of Chicopee, Ma. After hearing about the shootings at a Colorado High school I began to think about what the world is coming to and what the youth of America is becoming. How are children of my age supposed to feel after hearing about these stories on every channel? I still have many years of education left and I am afraid of being paranoid about these actions coming to my quiet town just like the one in Colorado.

The discrimination of this country is pitiful. People are too prejudiced. People need to start excepting people for whom they are and stop judging them. I acknowledge that I'm not perfect but I believe we, as in everyone in this world, should start to love people for who they are. I just don't know how I am going to be able to raise future children if the world is becoming such a violent place.

These days I find it harder to express my thoughts. I know that is NOT a good thing at all. I decided I'm going to express my feelings about the shooting issue in this board. I don't know if anyone is gonna read this or not but if you are reading this I ask you to please write to me stating how you feel about what I am writing.

People think all of these violent acts are happening because of bad role models (Marilyn Manson), television, and movies. I believe these violent acts are being done because of how unhappy people are. People say you learn from your parents. How come no one ever says you make you mistakes from your parents as well? Now I don't know these people that opened fire on Colorado but I am assuming that they either were on drugs influence or they are having a Hard time at home. Most of the people in my school that are into Marilyn Manson or take drugs have problems at home. I'm not trying to label people at all. I'm just trying to express how I feel.
