Family Care, Family Prayer... In The Workplace |
|
|
At first glance these two subjects do not appear to be
related. However, America Praying On-Line, in carrying out its mission, to
unite families and our great nation through prayer, has found two such workplaces
where family care, family unity and prayer are important. APOL recently presented
"Certificates of Appreciation" to Southwire Company and Kates Family
Childcare Center for their contributions and support of the American Family. The Southwire Company has made |
| substantial contributions to the welfare of our community
and unity of the family. In addition to supporting the Family 2 Family Program, programs
for youth at-risk, disadvantaged youth and other programs that help families in need,
Southwire Company also supports their employees religious development. The company
maintains a Chapel on site and a Chaplain is available when needs arise. Southwire also
has one of the first employee initiated Sunday Prayer and worship services at work called
Test Tank Church. The Test Tank Church or TTC, as it has come to be called, arose out of the desire of employees to have a prayer and Bible Study when their job required them to work on Sunday. A young man named Jim Reaves was inspired to lead the Bible Study which soon evolved into a Sunday Morning Worship Service during break. Jim hopes that TTC will inspire other businesses to follow suit. |
Another business where Family is the operative word is Kates Family Childcare Center. The teachers, director and owners all have a genuine concern for family. Not just their own, but the families of the children that come to the center, families around the community and even families around the world. This concern is evident by their outreach to families in Honduras, affected by Hurricane Mitch, the Kids to Kids-USA to Uganda Project sending toys to children in Africa and carrying food and supplies to a local emergency shelter. |
This concern for families is what has brought the employees of the center to initiate the Prayer Request and Praise Report. Kathryn Jeter, an employee of the center, compiles the requests and praises at home, then gives a copy to each Prayer Warrior. In the few weeks that the staff and others have been praying, Kathy Miles, the owner, agrees that there is a difference in many of the children, the families and the overall attitude at the facility. The staff |
|
| at the center has also chosen to open and close all Staff
Meetings with a prayer. As they noted, the U.S. Government opens its meetings with prayer,
and the President prays, why should they miss an opportunity to pray. It is evident that when the family is unified in Christ, they bring about a spirit of love and compassion to the people around them, whether it is in church, at school or in the workplace. PRAYER CHANGES THINGS |
