Does God Exist?

Either God exists or He doesn’t. There is no middle ground. Any attempt to remain neutral on the question is automatically synonymous with unbelief. It is far from a "moot" question, for if Goes does exist, then nothing else matters; if He does not exist then nothing really matters at all! If He does exist, then there is an eternal Heaven to be gained (Heb. 11:16) and an eternal Hell to be avoided (Rev.21: 8). The question of God’s existence is extremely important.

Though there are many lines of reasoning that might be given as evidence for God’s existence, for sake of space we shall consider only one: Obvious design demands a Designer.

In order to get a poem, one must have a poet. In order to have a law, one must have a lawgiver. In order to have a mathematical diagram, one must have a mathematician. A deduction is commonly made that order, arrangement, or design in a system suggest intelligence and purpose on the part of the originating cause. In the universe, from the vastness of multiplied solar systems to the tiny world of molecules, marvelous design and purposeful arrangement are evidenced. The only conclusion that a reasonable, unbiased mind can reach is that the existing systems of the world are purposefully designed by an Intelligent Cause.

The legitimacy of the design argument has the endorsement of the scriptures. The psalmist viewed the heavens and firmament as indicators of God’s glorious handiwork (Psa. 19:1). Barnabas and Paul concluded that the rains and fruitful seasons were witness to the Almighty (Acts14:17). The testimony of God in His orderly creation is so clear that those who reject it are inexcusable (Rm. 1:20).
