A Tribute To My Mom
So the women conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a
beautiful child, she hid him for 3 months. But when she could no longer hide him, she took
an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and
laid it in the reeds by the river bank. (Exodus 2:2-3) NKJV
The day was October 12th in the year 1980. It was late at night in a navy hospital when I
was born. From that moment on my mothers life would never be the same. Little did she know
what the next 18 years of having me, as a son would bring. I think she is still going
through therapy. :)
Now that mother's day is here I look back on all the times we spent together. Everything
from going to the zoo to even driving me 30 miles just so I could see my friends at the
skating rink. Then today when she has yet to miss coming in while I'm a sleep to give ma a
back rub and gently waking me up from a night's rest. We all have stories like this to
remember.
Sure, there were those great times, but also some bad ones. We all go through them. It's a
part of life. Times when you feel she doesn't care, when your yelled at, ignored, and
sometimes abandoned. I've been there so have a lot of us. It's a hard time we live in, and
a hard time to raise a kid. My mom has been through rough times and has taken stuff out on
me. But, I have done the
same in return. The one thing I did get out of it though was that neither of us are
perfect. We are growing and learning together. For this I thank my God every night.
Friends, I love my mother with all my heart. Through the great times and the bad times.
Through the times I feel like I've been abandoned and through the times I've ignored her.
We all make mistakes. This mother's day put those behind. Remember even though sometimes
it may seem like she doesn't care, or love you, deep down inside she loves you with a love
only a mother can.
Whether we think so or not, we love our moms more than anyone on this earth. Take the time
Sunday to say thanks, and most importantly, "I Love You." May peace be
with you.
